Oh, this is really a special gift! How wonderful! She really is gorgeous. That's a great shot of her hunkered down on to the roof. Really does make you wonder what brought her! And she is the only one who knows.
Yes, she is the only one that knows! On Facebook one of my friends said that it’s interesting to imagine that she has no idea how beautiful she is. But I can’t help but feel that she does. Look at the way she strikes a pose!!
Yes, I agree. I just went on instagram to find the snowy owl pics posted by kimsmithdesigns. Based in Massachusetts, snowy owls are sighted more often -- frequently? I really don't know. She got some lovely shots of the snowy on the sand dunes. And the snowy's expression -- so knowing. And, like you said, thank you to the folks who let people into their yards to see her. Really a very special creature and presence. I also love Issa's poem! Thanks for this posting, Leanne! What a great way to begin the new year!
Thank you so much, Sally! I love Issa. I have a wonderful book written by somebody who’s very good at translating Issa called write like Issa. I took it out after I saw the owl and tried my own hand at a haiku!
I've been watching all week, mesmerized by her equanimity in the face of such crowds. With owls, it's always about what those magnificent eyes know, or what they can tell us. How can one not be hypnotized?
You never know what they’re thinking, but you just can’t help but be enchanted by her equanimity in the face of all those crowds. Just like you said! It’s absolutely incredible. She’s one of the most beautiful animals I’ve ever had the privilege to look at. And the people of the neighborhood are very generous letting people in their back yards into their gardens. I can tell you one thing that would never happen in the neighborhood I live in people are very unfriendly.

Your haiku is beautiful, Leanne! With all your photography experience with birds, you'd be just the right twist of writing the gist of them!
You are so generous!!
I'm serious. Really. Poetry is about observation. (And time . . . )
