I had completely forgotten that I was given a telescope when I was around seven years old, because I had read everything there was to read about space and the planets, and there was nothing left but to actually try to see the things I'd read about. But there was always some kind of misty semi-cloud-cover in Hawaii and of course lots of light pollution. I never saw much of anything with my kid telescope. But when I was a young married and had a paycheck, I bought a powerful telescope, and we took it to the Sinai and saw some incredible things. And there is a huge telescope sitting in my dining room, legacy of homeschooling my kids. Thank you for this helping hand down memory lane! I'd forgotten how easy it is to get sucked into space and stars.

I think this is my favorite post of all I've read. It's gorgeous. And I love thinking of you as a little girl, dreaming of being an astronaut. SO cool about the poem in space. Brava!
