I always have mugicha available at this time of year, so I’m eager to try the mugicha and gin recipe! I am not a gin drinker but my twins developed a fondness for it traveling around in England last summer, so now they are picky about gin (!) and I can count on them to direct me. Thanks for this! Perfect for this bizarre weather, almost monsoon like here in northern New England!
You’ll have to let me know how you like it! I think it was a little odd but then after I kept thinking about it! I was actually planning on having it one more time although I’ve already tried it twice! I’m definitely a gin and soda water person with lots of lemon or lime! I love Japanese gin!!!! It’s a beautiful book even if you’re not much of a cocktail person the text is gorgeous and the photographs are as well
My copy just arrived! Thank you so much for this tip! One of my twins wants to take a bartending course, and she's always inventing things for us to try. She already knew about Japanese gin, apparently, and some of the book recipes use elderflower, which is another of her favorites. I literally just started another pitcher of mugi cha brewing! 楽しみ!
I can’t wait to hear what you think and if you find any other recipes in the book that you love will you let me know because I’m still just starting my experimentations!
Oh my goodness, I miss shiso juice so much! I’ve been wanting to grow my own for some time, thank you for the reminder. This book is going to be a great gift for a dear friend I met in Japan too 😁
If you can find Ki no Bi gin, it is fabulous. It has all the wonderful Japanese botanicals and it’s supposed to be capturing Kyoto and terror. I absolutely love it.
Omg! Those cocktails sound so delicious! I am a gin drinker and this gin cocktail sounds divine! And what a lovely book; cocktails for the 24 microseasons. Thanks you for sharing!
Okay! BTW Guess what popped up on my youtube feed all on its own? Your peacock video!!! Such a beautiful video, Leanne! You are a poet! (And Flannery O'Connor is still showing her hand!). Have a lovely trip home.
Oh that is so funny! Those videos are supposed to be private and not popping up but I’m really glad it popped up in your feed that is so sweet. Checking out and heading back to California.

BTW Could you post page 320 for the Mugi-cha? Thank you! lol!
Will send on Facebook or by email... but basically just get some mugi cha tea bags at any japanese shop of on amazon and steep. I think this is the best quality https://www.amazon.com/Ippodo-Japanese-Triangle-One-Pot-Teabags/dp/B013B03SCW/ref=sr_1_3_pp?crid=3R6DNL3IOXAU7&keywords=mugicha&qid=1690833640&sprefix=mugi%2Caps%2C151&sr=8-3 But any brand will do!!
Thanks! Now to get some good gin! lol!

Love it!!!!
