Thank you so much! It’s a beautiful spot although very very cold. I think you would love being surrounded by the artists! I can easily imagine you hear and there’s something wonderful about talking to painters and sculptures and seeing their work and hearing about their process, it’s pretty stimulating!
Just fabulous you have all these residency opportunities. Sounds like a dream. No doubt you'll be productive as ever. Lived in Vermont four years and loved it. But yeah, it's cold ... even in spring ...
I remember you lived here from your book! I don’t remember what part of Vermont, but I had this feeling it was closer to New York. It’s really cold even in spring! I think Montreal is only two hours away by car!!!
The food is fantastic! I really didn’t expect it to be so cold and I wasn’t really prepared for that but I guess that just is good because it’ll force me to stay and work on my project indoors!
Leanne, I just read your essay on Craig Mod. It's touching and beautiful ❤️ Thanks for sharing your personal journey and love for Japan. Thanks for highlighting the 'scarcity' mentality so prevalent all around us and how the concept of yoyū (having margin, space) may be just what we need today.
Thank you so much for reading it and for commenting! I think you might really like his book because there’s this idea of slowing down and noticing things. There’s not a lot on seasonality or things like art and the tea ceremony but because he is a contemplative photographer there’s a lot that I think that would resonate with you. I truly love the book as you can tell!
I'm sold and will get his book! :) Yesterday, I was walking the Kyoto streets with a photographer and it certainly is another good way of noticing and slowing down. Enjoy the weekend ahead and thanks again, Leanne.
Caitlin, Chris and I were just talking about you as we were driving here!!!! WE have to catch up. I emailed Art on his b-day but didn't hear back. I am so glad to hear from you!!!!!! Noreen just emailed from BL and said it is unlikely I will get in in Nonfiction because of waiting list size (I must be far down). I might actually get to do the hayride this time--but who knows what might happen this time!!!
How wonderful! I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Wow! An apartment and a studio! Looks lovely, Leanne. Hope the food is good!

You are such an inspiration, Leanne! I hope the residency is fantastic.
PS--I was waitlisted at Bread Loaf the year we met and got offered a spot at the end of June, so it's definitely possible!
